Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of the Terms
These Terms of Service (“ToS”) govern your access to and use of Chronicles of Denzar (the “Game”) and its related website and services (the “Site”).
By creating an account, accessing the Site, or playing the Game, you agree to be bound by these ToS and by any additional rules that apply to specific areas or features of the Game. These rules form part of these ToS and must be followed accordingly.
These ToS apply to all players and users of the Game.
2. Changes to the Terms
These ToS may be amended from time to time. Where a significant change is made, players may be notified when they next access the Game.
You are responsible for keeping yourself informed of the current version of these ToS and for complying with them. Continued use of the Game after changes have taken effect constitutes acceptance of the revised ToS.
A violation of these ToS or the applicable Game rules may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of an account.
3. Accounts
The Game is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this minimum age requirement. Accounts belonging to users who do not meet the minimum age requirement may be terminated.
Each individual may maintain only one account unless expressly authorized otherwise by the administration.
Creating or using multiple accounts to obtain an advantage, circumvent restrictions, or otherwise interfere with the Game may result in action being taken against all related accounts.
Account sharing is prohibited. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and must not allow another person to access or use your account.
Game staff will never ask you to provide your account password. You should never disclose your password to another person.
4. Account Ownership and Security
An account is associated with the person who originally registered it. Account ownership may not be transferred to another person, and the administration does not recognize private transfers of accounts.
You are responsible for all activity carried out through your account, including activity performed by another person who has obtained access to it.
You should take reasonable measures to protect your account credentials and notify Game staff if you believe your account has been compromised.
The administration reserves the right to freeze, suspend, modify, or delete an account where necessary to enforce these ToS, protect the Game or its community, investigate suspected violations, or maintain the integrity of the Game.
5. Game Integrity and Prohibited Activities
You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, the Game, its systems, or any internal component of the Game.
Reverse engineering, hacking, exploiting vulnerabilities, bypassing security measures, interfering with the operation of the Game, or otherwise attempting to undermine the integrity or security of the Game is prohibited.
This prohibition applies whether the attempted access or interference occurs through the Site, the Game client, external tools, or other means.
Violations may result in immediate account action and, where applicable, may be addressed to the fullest extent permitted by law.
6. Automated Software and Interference
You may not use scripts, bots, automated software, macros, refreshers, or other tools that interact with the Game without direct and continuous input from a person.
Automated or continual collection of information from the Game is prohibited.
Every action performed through an account must originate from an active user. Accounts found to be using prohibited automation may be frozen or otherwise sanctioned.
You must also comply with reasonable instructions given by Game staff concerning the operation or use of the Site and Game.
7. User-Generated Content
The Site may provide areas where players can submit or publish content, including messages, posts, clan information, profiles, and other material (“User Content”).
You remain responsible for the User Content you submit or publish. User Content does not necessarily represent the views of Kratos Gaming Corp., Chronicles of Denzar, or its Game staff.
The administration may remove, edit, restrict, or refuse User Content that violates these ToS, the Game rules, or applicable standards of conduct. Access to specific communication features may also be restricted where appropriate.
The administration is not responsible for claims, damages, losses, or disputes arising from User Content submitted by players to the extent permitted by applicable law.
8. Suspension and Termination
You may stop playing the Game at any time by ceasing to use your account.
The administration may suspend, freeze, restrict, or terminate an account where it considers such action necessary to enforce these ToS, the Game rules, or the integrity of the Game and its community.
Depending on the circumstances, action may be taken without prior notice.
Termination or suspension of an account does not create an obligation to restore items, currency, progress, or other account-related content unless the administration determines otherwise.
9. Availability of the Game
Kratos Gaming Corp. does not guarantee that the Site or Game will be available or accessible at all times.
Access may be interrupted, restricted, suspended, or discontinued for maintenance, technical reasons, operational reasons, or circumstances outside the reasonable control of the administration.
10. Force Majeure
Kratos Gaming Corp. shall not be responsible for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
Such circumstances may include failures affecting connectivity, infrastructure, hosting services, communications systems, or the availability or integrity of account information.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site, the Game, and all related materials and services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
Kratos Gaming Corp., Chronicles of Denzar, and their respective affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, representatives, and service providers disclaim all express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
No warranty is made that the Site or Game will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components, or that defects will be corrected.
No warranty is made regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability of information or materials made available through the Site or Game.
You assume the risks associated with your use of the Site and Game, including any costs arising from the servicing, repair, or correction of equipment or systems used to access them.
Nothing in these ToS excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Kratos Gaming Corp., Chronicles of Denzar, and their respective affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, representatives, and service providers shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or similar damages arising from or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Site, the Game, or any related materials or services.
Where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, the total liability of Kratos Gaming Corp. arising from or relating to your use of the Site or Game shall not exceed the amount you have paid, if any, for access to the Site or Game.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These ToS are governed by the laws of Washington, DC, USA.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these ToS, the Site, or the Game shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Washington, DC, USA, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
14. Additional Game Rules
Certain areas or features of the Game may have additional rules, including rules governing chat rooms, message boards, clans, or roleplay.
Such rules supplement these ToS and do not replace them. A violation of an additional Game rule constitutes a violation of these ToS.
You are responsible for familiarizing yourself with the rules applicable to the areas of the Game that you use.
Game Rules
1. General Rules and Enforcement
Players are expected to follow these Game Rules and to respect the integrity of the Game and its community.
The administration may interpret and apply these rules in a manner consistent with their purpose and with the overall integrity of the Game.
Where a rule does not provide a specific penalty, the administration may determine an appropriate response based on the nature and severity of the conduct.
If multiple accounts are associated with a violation, action may be taken against all accounts involved.
Communication restrictions may apply to the Tavern, forums, clan chat, or other communication features. Such restrictions may be imposed where necessary, particularly in cases involving repeated violations.
2. Flooding and Spam
Intentional flooding or repeated spam in communication areas is prohibited.
Flooding includes repeatedly posting the same or substantially similar content, posting excessive meaningless content, or otherwise disrupting communication areas through repeated messages.
Flooding may result in a communication ban, including a two-day communication ban for an established offence.
3. Follower Links
The Game's “Followers” system is an internal referral system that allows an existing player to receive credit when a new player joins the Game through that player's referral link.
Follower links may not be posted indiscriminately in Game communication areas or elsewhere on the Site for the purpose of soliciting referrals or obtaining an unfair advantage through the system.
Game staff may remove prohibited Follower links.
Continued or deliberate abuse of the Follower system may result in disciplinary action, including a “Mark of Cowardice” lasting ten days.
4. Player Harassment
Targeted and continued harassment of another player is prohibited. Occasional disagreements or isolated insults do not necessarily constitute harassment, but repeated conduct directed at an individual may be treated as such.
Public harassment may result in a communication ban of up to ten days.
Players are encouraged to use the privacy tools available within the Game when they wish to restrict private contact from another player.
5. Privacy of Private Community Areas
Players are encouraged to maintain the same basic standards of courtesy, respect, and good conduct throughout the community, including in private areas.
However, private clan areas, including private clan chat and private clan communications, are not subject to routine moderation by Game staff. The administration of a clan is responsible for establishing and enforcing its own standards within its private areas, provided that those standards remain consistent with the Game Rules and applicable law.
Likewise, private player-to-player communications are generally left to the individuals concerned, and Game staff will not ordinarily intervene in private communications.
This does not prevent the administration from taking action where private communications involve a violation that falls within the administration's legitimate responsibility, such as unauthorized access, abuse of Game systems, or attempts to circumvent privacy or security measures.
Players remain responsible for their own conduct in private areas and are encouraged to resolve ordinary private disputes themselves where possible.
6. Conduct Toward Game Staff
Players must communicate with Game staff in a respectful and reasonably professional manner.
Complaints and disagreements are permitted, but personal attacks, slander, abusive conduct, or profane communications directed at Game staff in public Game areas are not permitted.
Content that violates these standards may be removed and may result in a two-day communication ban, though the duration may differ based on the severity of the violation.
Players who wish to raise a concern with Game staff should do so clearly and courteously through the appropriate support channel.
7. Scripts and Continual Connections
The use of scripts, automated refreshers, or other methods intended to maintain continual connections to the Game or collect information without active player input is prohibited.
The Game is intended to be operated through actions initiated by a live person. Accounts found to be using prohibited automated methods may be frozen.
8. Unauthorized Account Access and Account Sharing
Accessing or using another player's account without that player's express permission is prohibited.
Account sharing is also prohibited, even where the account owner has given another person permission to access it.
Allowing another person to temporarily access an account does not transfer ownership of the account and does not remove the account owner's responsibility for activity performed through it.
Unauthorized access may result in the deletion or suspension of the accounts involved.
9. Bug and Exploit Abuse
Players may not intentionally exploit bugs, loopholes, security flaws, inconsistencies, or unintended mechanics to obtain an advantage.
Serious or deliberate abuse may result in immediate account termination.
Players who discover a bug or other unintended behavior should report it to Game staff through the appropriate Feedback or Bug Report channel rather than attempting to exploit it.
10. Community Failure
Conduct that seriously undermines the Game community, creates a general nuisance, or deliberately violates the spirit of the rules may be treated as a “Community Failure”.
The administration may determine an appropriate penalty based on the circumstances and severity of the conduct.
11. Player Responsibility
The owner of an account is responsible for activity carried out through that account.
This responsibility applies regardless of whether the activity was performed personally or by another person who had access to the account.
Players are therefore expected to keep their credentials secure and to take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access.
12. Repeat Offenders
Repeated violations may result in progressively stronger disciplinary action.
Depending on the circumstances, repeat offenders may have their accounts suspended or deleted without further warning.
13. Trades and Lost Items
Items or other in-game assets lost through an ordinary player-to-player trade will generally not be restored where the loss resulted from the players' own actions.
An exception may be considered where a confirmed programming error was responsible for the loss.
14. Compromised or Lost Accounts
Where an account has been compromised through unauthorized access, the administration may attempt to restore access after the identity of the legitimate account owner has been confirmed.
Restoration does not guarantee the return of items, currency, or other in-game assets lost as a result of the compromise.
Where repeated or questionable reports of account losses occur, the administration may decline further restoration requests.
15. Player and Staff Interaction
Players are expected to maintain a respectful environment when interacting with Game staff.
Game staff may also participate in the Game as players. Their participation does not require them to remain entirely separate from the community or to adopt a different standard of interaction from ordinary players, provided that their official responsibilities are not compromised.
Game staff are volunteers and are not expected to remain available at all times.
Professional communication should remain appropriate when dealing with Game-related matters.
16. Customer Service
Players who require assistance should use the designated Customer Service board or other official support channel.
Game staff will make reasonable efforts to respond to support requests, generally within two business days where circumstances permit.
Players should not attempt to bypass the designated support process by contacting individual staff members through unrelated channels.
Community & Chat Rules
1. General Decency
Players are expected to maintain a reasonable standard of decency throughout the Game.
Content that is excessively offensive, sexually explicit, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate for the Game community will be removed and will result in disciplinary action.
These standards apply to player names, profiles, clans, ranks, descriptions, chat, message boards, and other publicly accessible Game content.
Private clan areas and private communications are addressed separately under the Privacy of Private Community Areas section.
2. Player Names
Player names may not contain:
- Profanity or deliberately offensive language
- References to sexual acts
- Sexual references to body parts
- Racial or religious slurs
- Homophobic remarks
- Other content that is clearly inappropriate for the Game
The administration may require a player to change a name that violates these standards.
3. Profiles and Clan Content
Public profiles, clan names, clan descriptions, ranks, titles, and other publicly accessible clan-related content must comply with the general standards of decency.
Sexually explicit material, racial or religious slurs, homophobic remarks, offensive sexual references, and other prohibited content are not permitted in these public areas.
Private clan areas are governed by the principles set out in the Privacy of Private Community Areas section.
4. Message Boards
The following conduct is prohibited on the message boards:
- Spam and flooding
- Excessive use of capital letters intended to disrupt communication
- Posting personal information belonging to yourself or another person without appropriate consent
- Posting sexually explicit material
- Posting hacking-related or otherwise prohibited links
- Posting intolerant or discriminatory content
- Violating the Game Rules or these ToS
- Posting content that violates the general standards of decency
- Deliberately posting content in an inappropriate board or section
Personal information may include, among other things, screen names, email addresses, telephone numbers, physical addresses, real names, personal photographs, or other information that could identify or directly contact an individual.
Players should use the appropriate board or section for the subject of their post.
5. Tavern and Chat Areas
The Tavern and other general chat areas are intended for casual community interaction and are subject to additional moderation standards.
The following conduct may result in removal from chat or a communication ban, depending on the circumstances and severity of the violation:
- Flooding or spamming, including advertising or promoting links to other games
- Repeatedly posting the same or substantially similar content, including three or more consecutive lines of the same content
- Repeatedly posting random or meaningless letters, numbers, or symbols
- Deliberately disrupting the normal flow of chat
- Violating the Game Rules or these ToS
- Posting personal information about yourself or another player without appropriate consent
- Posting messages that violate the Game's standards of decency
- Harassing or targeting another player
Reasonable use of capital letters is permitted. Excessive use of capital letters intended to disrupt communication may be moderated.
Harassment is not tolerated. Players who harass others will be banned from chat immediately. Such conduct may also be addressed under the Community Failure provisions of the Game Rules.
If a moderator or administrator asks a player to stop discussing a sensitive or disruptive subject, the player is expected to comply promptly and respectfully. Failure to comply may result in a communication ban, at the discretion of the moderator or administrator and depending on the severity of the situation.
Profanity is not permitted in the Tavern. Attempts to circumvent this rule by replacing profanity with symbols or other characters are treated in the same manner. An occasional accidental use may be overlooked, but repeated profanity may result in a firm warning or further disciplinary action.
Political and religious discussions are not permitted in the Tavern.
Conversations concerning illegal drugs, the illegal use of otherwise legal drugs, or sexual activity are not permitted in the Tavern. This restriction applies regardless of whether the discussion is intended as a joke, roleplay, or general conversation.
Although the Game has players from many countries, English is the universal language used in the chat areas and players are expected to use English when participating in them.
6. Communication Bans and Ban Evasion
A communication ban is imposed on the player, rather than being limited to a specific account.
A player who has received a communication ban may not enter chat through another account while the ban is in effect. Doing so constitutes ban evasion and may result in additional disciplinary action against the accounts involved.
The same principle applies to attempts to circumvent other communication restrictions imposed by Game staff.
7. Personal Information and Privacy
Players must respect the privacy of other members of the community.
Do not publish personal information about yourself or another person in public Game areas unless there is an appropriate reason and the relevant person has consented.
Personal information includes screen names, real names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, photographs, and similar information that could identify or directly contact an individual.
Players should make use of the privacy controls provided by the Game where appropriate.
Roleplay Guidelines
1. General Roleplay
Roleplay (“RP”) is intended to provide a shared environment in which players can develop characters, stories, relationships, and conflicts within the Game world.
Players should distinguish between events occurring within roleplay and events occurring in real life.
Real-life disagreements should not be brought into roleplay, and roleplay disagreements should not be treated as personal disputes outside the Game.
2. In-Character and Out-of-Character Communication
Players should make a reasonable distinction between in-character (“IC”) and out-of-character (“OOC”) communication.
IC communication represents the character and should be treated as part of the roleplay.
OOC communication represents the player and should be used for matters outside the roleplay itself.
Where appropriate, players should clearly indicate when they are speaking OOC.
In the traditional roleplay format, italics may be used for IC actions or descriptions, while regular text may be used for OOC communication.
OOC communication may be used when necessary to clarify an action, resolve a misunderstanding, or help keep a roleplay organized.
3. Separation of Real Life and Roleplay
Players should not use roleplay as a means of continuing personal disputes.
Real-life conflicts should remain separate from character relationships and in-game conflicts.
Players should not use another person's real name or personal information in roleplay unless that person has indicated that they are comfortable with it.
Roleplay relationships and conflicts should remain within the roleplay environment unless all players involved agree otherwise.
A character should not be used as a means of concealing or justifying personal attacks against another player.
4. Character Actions and Consent
Players should not control another player's character without that player's consent.
When an action affects another character, describe what your character attempts to do and allow the other player to determine how their character responds.
Players should avoid automatically deciding the outcome of actions that directly affect another character.
This includes avoiding “God RP”, where a character is treated as automatically successful, all-powerful, or capable of actions beyond the reasonable abilities of the character.
Character abilities and actions should remain consistent with the character's level, class, abilities, and established role within the Game.
5. OOC Knowledge
Players should distinguish between information known by themselves and information known by their characters.
Characters should not use information that they could not reasonably know within the roleplay.
This includes information obtained from another player's profile, the Game library, private discussions, transcripts, or other sources that the character would not have access to.
Using outside knowledge to gain an unfair advantage in roleplay should be avoided.
6. Joining an Ongoing Roleplay
Players should ask before joining an ongoing roleplay when their participation could significantly affect the scene or the players already involved.
Respect the direction and context of an existing roleplay rather than deliberately interrupting or taking control of it.
7. Resolving Roleplay Disputes
Players should allow Game staff to handle serious disputes when the players involved cannot resolve them themselves.
Vigilante action or attempts to punish another player outside the appropriate moderation process are discouraged.
Once a dispute has been addressed or resolved, players should make a reasonable effort to move forward rather than continuing the conflict.
8. Roleplay Style and Character Development
Players are encouraged to give their characters a recognizable personality or defining trait.
Descriptions should provide enough detail to make a scene understandable without unnecessarily slowing the roleplay.
A character may benefit from an appropriate background, description, personality, or history that gives other players useful context.
Roleplay should remain consistent with the Game world and the capabilities of the character.
9. Courtesy and Age-Appropriate Roleplay
Players should remain courteous toward one another during roleplay.
Roleplay should remain appropriate for the Game's community and applicable standards of conduct.
Players are responsible for distinguishing fictional conflict between characters from genuine conflict between players.
